Welcome Jana and Greg.

Award of Excellence
In gratitude for the donation of a treadmill to CCUSD’s Special Education Service Department, the club received an Award of Excellence. President-Elect Susan Vanik received the award on our behalf.

Sundial Change Reminder
Postal mailing of the Sundial will change to once a month. Each issue will contain an entire month's worth of our club's news. This change will become effective with the first issue on April 1, 2009 which will contain the club news since March 1. Please note the online version will continue to be emailed weekly.

Sundial Help Needed
Wouldn't you like to have your "spin" put on our weekly edition of the Sundial? Come on! We need help from writers and photographers. With just your help our writer and photographer rotation would be reduced to once every 5 weeks. Contact Tim Pitel (623-308-2916) if you would like to donate an hour or two for a great cause.

Guest Speaker
Our Guest Speaker, Gary Naumann, teaches at ASU and is Director of the Spirit of Enterprise Center in the W.P. Carey School of Business. Mr. Naumann addressed issues surrounding entrepreneurial initiative during these times of economic recession. Suggesting a middle course between the extremes of an absolute free market perspective that would advocate a hands-off approach to the current crisis and an overly regulated governmental response, Mr. Naumann urges would-be entrepreneurs to be proactive (“Don’t wait for help”), actively seek loans (“Be diligent and nurture relationships with your banker”), and have confidence new busnesses can be successfully begun in this climate (“Production and facility acquisition costs are down and competition is thin”).

Quoting a line from the movie The Cinderalla Man, Mr. Naumann advises resilient students to “Stick to your beliefs and never give up.” Among his top admonitions: Don’t run out of cash. Protect your reputation. Underpromise and overdeliver.

This week's issue of the Sundial was provided courtesy of reporter David Shirey and photographer Alan Haugner. Great job guys!
